The Metropolitan Opera broadcast begins at 11 a.m. Sat., Jan. 5. Join us for Hector Berlioz’s (pictured) French grand opera and his most ambitious work, “Les Troyens,” featuring Deborah Voigt, Susan Graham, Marcello Giordani, and Dwayne Croft leading the cast of characters in a portrayal of the Trojan War.

Join KCSC Sat., Dec. 29 at noon for the Metropolitan Opera broadcast of Thomas Ades’s contemporary masterpiece, the three-act opera “The Tempest.” Reprising his performance as Prospero is baritone Simon Keenlyside (pictured).

The Metropolitan Opera broadcast for Sat., Dec. 22 is Bartlett Sher’s Tony Award winning production of Rossini’s “The Barber of Seville,” the rollicking comedy classic, starring Isabel Leonard as Rosina, Alek Shrader as the Count, and Rodion Pogossov (pictured) as the conspiring barber, Figaro.

Verdi’s vision of ancient Egypt is grandly realized with the Metropolitan Opera broadcast of “Aida,” starring soprano Violeta Urmana and tenor Marcello Giordani as the ill-fated lovers. Mezzo-soprano Stephanie Blythe sings the part of Amneria for the first time for the Met. Broadcasting on Saturday, Dec. 15 at noon.

Soprano Sondra Radvanovsky, tenor Marcelo Alvarez, and baritone Dmitri Hvorostovsky lead an excellent cast in Verdi’s “Un Ballo in Maschera,” (“A Masked Ball”), the first Metropolitan Opera broadcast of the season, this Saturday, December 8 at noon. Join KCSC opera host Lane Whitesell.
