Verdi’s vision of ancient Egypt is grandly realized with the Metropolitan Opera broadcast of “Aida,” starring soprano Violeta Urmana and tenor Marcello Giordani as the ill-fated lovers. Mezzo-soprano Stephanie Blythe sings the part of Amneria for the first time for the Met. Broadcasting on Saturday, Dec. 15 at noon.
