From the General Manager
May 2008
Dear Members and Listeners,
If you read this page with regularity you know
that KCSC lost another long-time on-air host, Clyde Martin. Clyde
hosted the opera programming on KCSC for more than 30 years.
Clyde was active in theatre in central Oklahoma
and he died the way an actor should, the day following Jewel Box’s
Sunday April 20th production of My Fair Lady (in which
Clyde played the role of Col. Pickering, a signature role for him).
Clyde was short of breath and pained by the end of the show, but
stayed to take his curtain call. We will miss him very much even as
we still feel the loss of Dave Stanton, who died in February.
In other news, an anonymous donor has agreed to
fund the replacement of our air conditioning units at the
transmitter. The current units are more than 20 years old and a
constant source of irritation (repair bills!). We found it very
difficult to get funding for replacement since air conditioners are
a necessary but prosaic part of keeping us on the air. The three
transmitters we run put out quite a bit of heat. Thank you very,
very much (you know who you are)!
Sincerely,
Brad Ferguson
General Manager
